I got stuck with yesterday’s assignment on Big. I ran out of big ideas. Sure, there were lots of big things I could take a picture of but they just weren’t big on creativity.
So, I decided to break the rules a little bit. Instead of taking a photograph of something massive, I decided on this guy’s big belly. Why not? It’s big. And he is big on laughter and happiness.
Meet the Laughing Buddha. The Chinese believe that rubbing his big belly brings good fortune and wealth. I definitely would want that!
The assignment also called for experimenting with point of view. This jolly fella fits right in the palm of my hand, but because I shot him up close, he appears bigger than he actually is.
Later during the day, my hubby and I went to the beach. It was a perfect day to go out and watch the sunset. Upon reaching the beach front, we were greeted with this view.
Big, wide, open spaces of sea, sand and sky. Ah, this is what I need at the moment! Breathing in the fresh ocean air, feeling that salty breeze kiss my skin and walking barefoot on soft golden sand while the sea gulls soar and the waves crash on the shore. This is the Atlantic Ocean. Big. Majestic. Powerful.
Between the big belly and the big ocean, there is a whole lot of big difference.
Two of my favorite things!!! I don’t think you broke the rules at all – love it!!

You’ve been amazing following your Photo 101 course so diligently. I signed up for it, but unfortunately had a death in the family, so could not participate. I will sign up for the next one though. In the meantime, I’ll go through your pictures and have some questions for you, so be ready! 🙂

I am so sorry for your loss, my deepest sympathies. I was wondering where you were. Take all the time you need, this is just something for me to do to improve my skills. Family comes first. Of course when you are ready for the Photo 101 class, you can ask me whatever questions you want and I will do my best to answer them. Take care!
