Wednesday Wisdom

anaisnin

Sometimes in life, we make unpopular decisions and we end up trying to defend and explain ourselves to people who are, I’m sure, well meaning and have the best of intentions. Sometimes you doubt and reconsider yourself but then again, deep inside, you know that that is the path for you. No one can live your life but you. No one can walk in your shoes. If the feeling is strong, go for it. You can only go forward and not backward. If you fall and stumble, pick yourself up, brush off the dirt and move on. Lessons learned.

The road is long and winding and I don’t have time to waste.

<Random thoughts spurred from our job change and upcoming move to Asheville>

  1. Words to ponder for sure. So Asheville eh? Has the decision been made? I’m sorry, but I don’t believe I know your first name, and I like addressing folks by their names, but I see it no where on your blog :).

    1. Oh my, it’s Belle. 🙂 I gave my name away on my “Home” page and not on the about me widget to the side for privacy reasons. But its great to meet you Loretta! Yes, we have a job assignment already in Asheville and we start on the 6th.

  2. Such lovely words. I definitely resonate with my own upcoming adventure. It was a bit of a spur of the moment decision, but it felt so right. There are some people I’ve told about Thailand who are just like, “what?” They don’t understand why I would want to uproot myself in a completely different country that has a completely different language and culture…and I’m just like, “why not?” I cannot wait to learn and grow and just become a better person and I know I will do all of that.

I also can’t wait to hear more about Asheville. What an adventure of your own!

    1. Kudos to you!!! For being brave and following your heart’s desire. “Why not” is an answer I also often times use to people who keep on asking “why”. It can be annoying sometimes but I’m sure they mean well. They just have a different mindset than we do. And who knows maybe our journey will inspire them to do things that they don’t normally do!
I’ve been sooo busy. Still packing here. I have no time to write a post!!! We are leaving on the 2nd, so hopefully the following week would be a good time. Thank God for my “Haiku Fridays” I can still manage to publish a very quick one for the week. 😉

      1. Oh yes, they do mean well. It can still be frustrating when their intended helpfulness ends up being the opposite of helpful in the end, though.

Ah goodness, so excited to hear about the move. Good luck!

I know what you mean with the Haiku Fridays–I love my Hump Day Haiku feature because it’s so easy to prepare compared to a long post with a lot of prose and it keeps me blogging regularly–something I’ve been struggling with since I started working full time. 🙂

        1. Yeah like right now. In between packing and saying goodbye to friends, there is just no time to write a “proper post”. I’m only here to reply to your comments. hehe. 🙂 But really, I do appreciate your support. 🙂

  3. That’s my gal 🙂 Listen to your heart, you’ll always be fine! Years ago, when I joined the Red Cross on my first mission to Sudan, all my friends and fam went ballistic. All those nice studies, what was wrong with me? how about I got a serious boyfriend and settle down instead of looking for trouble? or maybe a shrink could help?… At the end of the day, deep inside, I had always felt it was what I wanted to do, so I went. 10 years down the road, I never ever regretted my decision. All those people who were trying to pull me back are the ones who became so envious of my experiences and of the path I had taken 😉
I know you listen to your heart and don’t forget your head, so you (two) will e perfectly fine! if not now, then when??
Btw, Belle suits you so well! do you have any French origin?
Safe travels dear, all the very very best always 🙂

    1. You won’t believe how this message means SO MUCH to me!!! This has touched me on so many levels. It is difficult to make others understand, having to repeat yourself over and over again. Sometimes you just give up explaining. But when I meet someone who has the same wavelength as I do, I am overjoyed. It just feels so good to be understood without trying so hard to make them understand.
Oh dear, I am as Bisdak as Larsian or Carbon market! No French blood whatsoever, blame it all on my mom who came up with my name! haha…but hey, I’m the original Belle not the Disney character okay?
Thank you so very much for uplifting and encouraging me tonight! 🙂

    1. We have fallen in love with Asheville too! Thats why for my 2nd travel assignment (1st for my hubby’s) we decided to come here. If the hospital sucks, then at least we have lots of stuff to do on our days off, right? Did you work at Mission? I am about to start my first shift tonight so wish me luck. If you need info and resources on traveling, check out highway hypodermics, the gypsy nurse and if you are on fb, there is a gypsy fb travel nurse group. Good luck to you too and thanks for dropping by! 🙂

      1. I’ve been blessed in my life with many adventures. Relocating for interesting/challenging work was several times the reason. Have gotten some encouragement from family and peers….but lots of skepticism and queries about the sensibility, practicality, reasoning, and why of it. Now I am old. Everyone who encouraged or was not encouraging is old too…or dead. Do you know how many times I have sat and listened to regret stories?! I applaud your adventurous spirit and encourage you to embrace an adventurous full life.
